Break the Culture of Avoidance: See It - Own It - Solve It - Do It
Why are people and companies so afraid to admit problems? In many organizations, despite repeated calls for open and honest communication, several dynamics work together to create cultures of misinformation and unproductive speculation. When there is too much distance between those at the top and those closest to the work, the gap in communication gives rise to some understandable but false assumptions that, left unchecked, allow people to tell one another half-truths and avoid conversations about difficult topics.
Our region is determined to create a culture of accountability; a culture which encourages everyone on the team to tell the truth. This applies to all levels of personnel, from our managers to the people in the dish room. Our team is free to arm themselves with the reality of the situation, by owning up to it, and by acting according to it. This kind of culture will allow deep-rooted problems to be identified, understood and ultimately solved.
