Smith Village Goes PINK!

On October 14th 2011, Smith Village hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, where residents and staff were encouraged to walk around Smith Village in honor of loved ones who have survived or battled breast cancer. Staff was allowed to wear a pink shirt and jeans in honor of Breast Cancer awareness for a minimum donation of $1.00. The walk featured refreshing pink lemonade, pink for the cure breast cancer ribbon cookies, breast cancer information, and a memory board, where residents and staff signed the names of individuals they know who have battled breast cancer over the years. Overall, the community raised over $100.00 for the Susan G Koman Breast Cancer Cause. As the month of October continues, Smith Village will be continuing their collection of Breast Cancer Yogurt lids, where they will be entered online for a donation of $0.10 per lid will be made in support of Breast Cancer Research. Overall, the event went great and residents and staff came together to support the cause!
