To celebrate
Fat Tuesday on February 12th the Residents of Christian Rest Home
will be dining on a fried jelly filled doughnut known as a Paczki.
Paczki’s
have been a Polish tradition since the middle ages. The traditional reason for
making and eating Paczki was to use up
all the lard, sugar, eggs and fruit in the house, because their consumption was
forbidden during lent.
The picture
shows James displaying one of the many trays of Paczki delivered by a local
bakery for the Fat Tuesday morning treat.
