Swienconka Blessing at Felician Sisters of Livonia
The Felician Sisters of Livonia Michigan have a large number of Polish residents and for the Easter Holiday we celebrate on Saturday with the Polish tradition of Swienconka. Swienconka is the blessing of the basket, normally the residents would bring a basket to have the priests bless filled with the items that would be eaten for Easter Sunday, here we create 4 tables that represent the basket.
We have a table of Meat (polish sausages, bacon, ham and shrimp), Cheese and Eggs, Breads and Desserts, and a Vegetable and Fruit table. We create a festive display for the sisters to enjoy. It is always talked about for days and it really displays our commitment to following the residents traditions.
