Compass in the Community

As part of Compass in the Community, we paired with a charity event to raise money for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.  The region was hit hard by the record-breaking floods this past winter, and Pine Ridge is struggling to recover.  Director and Chef Christina Bodanza created designer cupcakes for the bake-sale event held at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids.

Thank you to student and Edison Christian employee Mason Glanville (pictured) for bringing this opportunity to us.

Miles for Memories

Miles for Memories is a local organization created in 2013 to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's Disease. Every January they hold an event to discuss the research that has been done as a result of the funds that were raised. They are gracious enough to host that event here at NorthPointe Woods. Each January our dining team creates a menu based on foods that support brain health. This year’s event turned out great and we can’t wait to host it again next year.

Entertainers from Israel at Weinberg

From Israel this singing and dancing group of teens spend their time entertaining seniors across the United States every summer. Weinberg Community for Senior Living invited 100 community members and 100 residents to watch the show and experience a Mediterranean themed luncheon.

Feed the Need

In April, EHM’s COSA Team initiated a food drive called “Feed the Need”, which donates to local Food Banks.  To help support this initiative the Life Enrichment Team organized a fun event for staff and residents.  The staff was given the challenge to design a structure out of cans their respective departments donated. Chef Travis and Team quickly jumped on the opportunity and built a three-compartment sink.  They included many details, including soap and sanitizer, water and dishes!  It was a fun event and the residents enjoyed voting for their favorite structure!
