At Oakwood Common Retirement Community in Dearborn, diversity is not just the flavor of the month. It is embedded in our operation and in every manager and associate. There are diversity moments virtually every day. As a fun diversity exercise held on March 20, 2012 we asked our associates to select a country and prepare a dip associated with that country. Two of our associates (Carmen Solis and Lupe Rivera) volunteered their time to create a story board. The only guidance was to tell everyone through the storyboard what diversity looked like. On the day, they brought in their dips and displayed them with a flag of their respective country in front of the incredibly thought out and put together storyboard. It was a proud moment for the members of Morrison Senior Living at Oakwood Common as the activity was held with administrators and human resources representatives in attendance. They were extremely impressed and have asked us to borrow our idea and storyboard.
