Team Building at Four Seasons
At Four Seasons we work great together as a team to fulfill the needs of our residents. To help keep us as a team, Isaiah Johnson has created team building activities with the staff to keep the team morale up. Above and below are pictures of a team builder called Blind Counting. In this exercise the group picks a leader. The group then has one minute to come up with a plan to complete the task. Every person is blind folded and given a number. The group must then line up in number sequence without being able to see or talk! If the group struggles the leader is allowed to talk for one more minute to steer the group to success.
The leader came up with the idea for each person to clap how many times their number was and then the leader would place each person in order. This activity showed the staff how important communication is and how there are many different types of communication. The staff also had to work to complete the task with handicaps. This shows the group that communication is essential when dealing with people with disabilities. The group also said in the debriefing that they not only learned about communication, but also about trust, critical thinking, and teamwork. The staff had a lot of fun with this activity and definitely brought the group a little bit closer together.
