September's Wellness Event with Katie
Registered Dietitian, Katie Kunkel, presented an apple tasting featuring six
of the most popular apple varieties in supermarkets - Red Delicious, Golden
Delicious, Granny Smith, Gala, Fiji, and Pink Lady. Residents sampled each of
these varieties with their choice of caramel, yogurt, peanut butter or honey
dipping sauce along with fresh hot apple cider. The residents were educated on
the health benefits of these fruits and how different apple varieties were
cross-bred to produce more sweeter and colorful varieties. The
residents voted on Golden Delicious and Pink Lady as their top two favorite.
