National Diabetes Month: The American Diabetes Association has some great resources to present this topic throughout the month in Learn and Learns, on bulletin boards, or in Fireside chats.
American Indian Heritage Month
Banana Pudding Lovers Month: as a pie, with meringue, frozen in cupcake paper, as a cream puff.
Greens and Plantains Month
National Alzheimer's Month
Georgia Pecan Month: create a snack mix for the tables in the dining room or pass bags of it out at a nutrition activity.

1st to the 7th: Fig Week - starters, main courses AND desserts! Serve something each day with a fig theme.
18th to the 24th: Game and Puzzle Week - crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, or even place some Cracker Barrel peg games on the tables!

Daily
1st - World Vegan Day: being a vegan isn't just about eating vegetables! Check out this website for activities to do with your team or residents that are animal friendly.
2nd - Cookie Monster Day: from a cookie eating contest to a best cookie recipe contest, showcase cookies today.
2nd to 4th - Pumpkin Chunkin Days: you don't need to actually chunk the pumpkins, but you could show the competition (on the Discovery Channel) in the dining room.
3rd - Sadie Hawkins: have the staff dress up in plaid flannel shirts and jeans, decorate with hay and serve some good, hearty, country cookin'!

6th - Election Day
7th - Chocolate and Almond Day
8th - Cook something bold and pungent day
9th - Domino Day
11th - Veteran's Day
13th - Diwali: The Hindu Festival of Lights - while your residents may not want to celebrate this holiday, be mindful that some of your employees might. This would be a great diversity activity!

15th - America Recycles Day: find an event to join with your staff or print this TOOLKIT
15th - The Great American Smokeout: help a resident or an employee to kick the habit. Place information on a table or bulletin board with facts about smoking.
15th - National Bundt Pan Day: as a pumpkin, filled with jam, as an edible centerpiece, or as breakfast muffins.
17th - Homemade Bread Day: take Mother Angeline's approach to bread in retail areas or create a "resident baker" like Central Baptist
18th - Mickey Mouse Day
20th - National Peanut Butter Fudge Day: pass out these fun facts with some homemade peanut butter fudge that the residents help make!
22nd - Thanksgiving
24th - Small Business Saturday: feature a local bakery, local produce or a local artist in your retail area or dining room
