Veteran's Day at Jacobetti Home for Veterans

Veteran’s Day, the day we honor all military personal for their special contributions to our country, is a very important holiday throughout the country. But at Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette MI, it is the most important holiday of the year. On that day, there was a special feeling throughout the home; you could feel the pride these service men and women felt for themselves.

Special events began right after breakfast, and continued throughout the day. Over 300 people were present to show their appreciation of our Veterans. All branches of the service were represented with high ranking officers. The dress uniforms with all the medals and brass were a very impressive sight.  Jason Allen, a former Senator and now the Senior Director of Military and Veteran’s Affairs spent 2 days and nights here, dining and visiting with the veterans.  There were also representatives of the Senate, Congress and every military organization.

To show our appreciation to our Veterans, Morrison Senior Living also offered a full day of events.  Following the morning services in the Chapel, we provided homemade muffins, coffee, and tea to the Residents and Guests. Everyone in Dining Services made a special effort to personally thank each of our Veterans as they entered the dining room or were seen in the halls. A special message of Thanks was printed on each tray ticket.

The evening meal was our grand finale. The tables were dressed with linen, candles and patriotic décor. Shrimp Cocktail was served as an appetizer. The Entrée was Prime Rib Au Jus, Cheddar Cheese Potatoes, and Dilled Baby Carrots. Cherry Cheesecake was served for dessert.

We took some great pictures of the events and the Veterans enjoying their special meal. Unfortunately we are unable to share them; prior to being downloaded, they were accidentally deleted from the camera.
