On Friday April 26, 2013, Residents enjoyed a monthly Social Hour.
The residents requested a French theme, so the menu included Crudites, Fromage,
Mini Quiche, and Brie en Croute.
Brie en
Croute
Brie wheel
Egg Wash
Puff Pastry
1/4 cup fruit preserves
1/2 cup dried cranberries
Roll out some puff pastry into
a square, large enough to wrap around the brie wheel. Spread some raspberry
preserves (or any kind of fruit preserves) in center of the dough; approximately
the diameter of brie wheel. Cover the raspberry preserves with the dried
cranberries. Place the brie over the preserves and cranberries and wrap the
puff pastry around the brie. Use the egg wash to seal the dough completely,
cutting off any extra dough. Once it is sealed, flip the wheel onto a greased
baking sheet so that the seal is on the bottom. Brush egg wash over the entire
wheel and use the excess dough for decorating. Bake at 400F
for approx. 25-30 minutes or until the dough is golden brown. Let rest for 40
minutes. Serve warm.
