Late summer picnics a hit for the WHC wellness department

This past week, wellness coordinator Amanda Lynch, residents, and staff from Willowwood located on the downtown campus of the Western Home Communities traveled the short distance to nearby Washington park and enjoyed a fantastic sack lunch.  The heat as of late did not stop them from their walk and everyone was surprised to have such a nice breeze coming through the shelter where they ate.  Conversation filled the shelter and Lynch was eager to learn new things from the residents, from their gardens they have had in the past, different ways to can fruits and vegetables, and a little more history about the town that Lynch and many of residents and staff have grown up and lived their lives out in.  It was yet another great experience for Lynch to have individuals  tell their stories which has been a wonderful addition to the wellness programming at the Western Home Communities. Their hope is that there can be one more picnic before the chilly days of fall and the cold days of winter roll through Cedar Falls.  It was a great day had by all and looking forward to future picnic opportunities to come.
