Revenue Enhancement – Clinical Consulting
Far
too often we only focus on increasing revenues through opportunities in our existing
Independent Living areas by looking at
caterings, retail, menu pricing, etc. In turn many of our RD’s stay within the
Skilled Nursing boundaries and don’t venture into Independent Living. We have
an untapped resource in our Registered Dietitian/Nutritional Care
Mangers to increase revenue for our
clients and possibly for Morrison.
This
suggestion is specifically directed towards those communities that have IL as
well as NCM’s onsite. Although the residents may be independent, they may still
need or want guidance with Diabetes, low salt needs, weight loss plans,
etc. Some residents may already be
looking outside the walls of the community for nutritional advice. We have the
ability to set up consultations with the IL residents (and families) and charge
the time at an hourly rate using our own team.
Of
course it will all need client approval, but we do have a valuable resource in our RD/NCM’s
to consult at a charge the residents if they choose to use our services.
A
good start could be creating a flyer for the community stating the services we
plan to provide (private consultation, group sessions, and specific sessions on
a particular topic).
Make
sure you specify times that are available on the flyer (we don’t want to
overwhelm our NCM’s!).
Fireside
chats would also be an excellent time for the IL residents to meet and discuss
these services as well.
