At Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility we did our Route 66 Meal going back to the 1930s! We served homemade chicken noodle soup, hamburgers with french fries and Apple Cinnamon Milk Shakes. We had fun facts and history of Route 66 on placemats along with postcards from that era. We paired the meal with a movie and did a Movie and Dinner Theme- The meal went over great!

Diner Days at Walter Reuther Psychiatric Hospital
This month we took a roadtrip to Mel's Diner and offered our patients the Blue Plate Special. The burgers and fries were great but what especially thrilled our patient were the never before offered old fashioned malts! We placed the food in a gingham paper lined basket for a retro feel.

Diner Days marketing is the "Showcase" at Brecon Village! At Brecon Village, we found how important it is to involve the life enrichment department in Diner Days. This picture is the showcase display that is in the main entrance hallway of our building. Life Enrichment has bought into our year long theme for the second year in a row and chose to do this display in October to highlight the kickoff! We were thrilled when they came to US with the plan to do this in their area- that shows a great partnership!

We celebrated Oktoberfest at NorthPointe Woods each week in October. We had a theme meal in our dining rooms on October 7th. The following week we had a beer tasting for our "Dining Delight's and Discussions" event. We also featured Reuben's in our cafe and tied in Guinness Stout for our Diner Days promotion. We had many compliments on our events and the residents are excited to see what's next.
