At Chelsea Retirement Community , dietitian Nicole Blair added spice to the life of coworkers by providing a wellness talk on Spices. At the end of the session each person took home a spice that was inside a clear Christmas ornament-what a great idea for gift giving this season! (See picture below) Spices don’t just add extra flavor to the foods we eat, but they also have beneficial properties including antioxidants and antimicrobial actions. Antioxidants protect the body from cancer, heart disease, diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. Although there’s no recommended daily spice requirement, a variety of spices is more important than quantity. Below is a recipe that is great for chicken, fish, tofu and roasted potatoes

1Tsp garlic powder
