At the Masonic Home of Shelbyville we discussed trivia from the Jukebox Days (50's and 60's). Topics included fashion, the cost of a stamp, the Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, popular children's toys and the opening of the first corporate McDonalds. Residents absolutely loved our powerpoint and enjoyed dancing to popular dances such as the Mashed Potato and the Twist! Looking forward to serving our 50's and 60's themed meal next month.

For our 60s blue plate special dinner we set out a projector with different memories of stuff going on in the decade. To eat we did a chocolate mink shake, fruited jello parfaits, chicken noodle casserole, broccoli with cheese, egg salad sandwiches, and a red potato salad. The residents really enjoy it as it brings back a lot of fond memories for them!

Twice a month our traveling diners(resident and staff) travel throughout our building looking for the latest and greatest diner on our own Route 66 !! Each time we set up the diner it is in a different location and it is serving different food. This week we served homemade pancakes and waffles with bacon and sausage! We offered many different toppings from just plain syrup to fresh strawberries and whip cream. Of course we had to have a delicious beverage so we also offered a hot chocolate bar
with regular, sugar free and white chocolate hot chocolate. Delicious!!
This was the third diner in the series and all have been very successful. They can't wait to find out what we are doing next and where!

At SchoolCraft, we ushered in the Jukebox Days with a meal that focused on the Golden Years of Route 66 the 50's. We served thick Corn Beef and Swiss sandwiches, Mushroom Barley Soup, Stewed Tomatoes, Potato Chips, and a Orange Creamcicle Milkshake made from scratch. As in past meals we had trivia and facts on the placemats and photos of famous stops along the route. Additionally we showed the classic Western movie High Noon during the meal.
