Apple Superfood Special

Here at Fulton Manor we prepare a special staff lunch every Wednesday for sale in our Grace Cafe. This week we featured a super food; Apples. It was a sandwich with: sharp cheddar cheese, apple woodsmoked bacon, granny smith apple slices and roasted red onion mayo all on grilled sourdough. A neat trick we used to keep the apples from turning brown was putting them in water that had ascorbic acid (vitamin C) powder dissolved in it. We like using the ascorbic acid because it is tasteless, unlike sprite or lemon juice. The apple still tastes like an apple. We purchased it from the local health food store. Served with fries and a cookie they flew out the door and we sold out.
