Although community service typically happens externally, we also
have an obligation to give internally. Recently at Oakwood Common we held a baby
shower for one of our servers, Simone Coleman. She is expecting in early July
and the team felt an obligation to ensure one of their coworkers had a great
start in motherhood. There was an incredible outpouring of gifts including the
highlight of the shower, an afghan, booties, and bonnet hand made by one of our
residents (Margaret Schultz). Simone received literally hundreds of baby
diapers, wipes, and many other baby accessories. Of course our baker Penny
stepped up to the challenge and made a special cake for the event. It was a
great moment at Oakwood Common and the team is very proud to have planned and
executed the event.
