Breast Cancer Awareness at Smith Village and Smith Crossing

This October, the dining service department at Smith Village and Smith Crossing hosted a Pink for October Breast Cancer walk and balloon release with all residents and staff. Participants that donated to the breast cancer foundation received a pink support t-shirt, and were allowed to wear their shirts to work on Monday, October 15th.

A balloon release occurred at 10:00am after breast cancer survivors shared their stories with the group. Two Awareness Walk's were held in the morning and afternoon on October 15th, where residents and staff were encouraged to walk around the block in memory and in honor of individuals fighting breast cancer.

The walk featured a breast cancer table, where participants could pick up additional information on breast cancer prevention and support tips, as well as a memory board, where individuals could sign the names of their loved ones fighting or surviving breast cancer. Overall, $960.00 was raised and donated to support the Susan G Komen Pink for The Cure foundation.
