A long time resident of LFP who's of Greek heritage decided to put on a really big fat Greek Party. The afternoon started with the activities department showing the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and then residents were wowed by our resident hosting a Greek style party in our dining room by greeting them with a 3 piece band and a Greek style buffet made up of family recipes. Our resident used to own his own restaurant so these were tried and true recipes and a remembrance of his wife.
The menu for the night included: A salad bar including the traditional Greek Salad of Feta Cheese, olives, tomatoes, red onions, Psar Plaki (Baked Red Snapper with Tomato and Herbs), Chicken Spanaki (Chicken with Spinach), Pastitsio (Pasta Casserole), Vegetable Moussaka, Chef Carved Rack of Lamb and served Baklava for dessert.
The buffet and the backdrop behind the musicians was to look like the residents just entered into a small Greek Fishing Village. We even filled large glass vases with food coloring and water to look like they had olive oil in them for decor on the buffet. One of our long time servers started a towel dance that kept the place rockin'.
