Celebrating Diversity at The Moorings

Saturday, June 9th was the annual Health Center Summer BBQ Open House at The Moorings. Friends and family of the residents are invited to come share a meal with their loved ones in a casual, fun setting. The Activities Department decorated the entire Health Center and arranged for a variety of entertainment. Food Services set-up three buffets of home-style BBQ. This year’s menu consisted of BBQ chicken, grilled burgers, potato salad, corn on the cob, baked beans, and sliced watermelon. In addition to brownies, an ice cream sundae bar was provided.

While the event is always a fun one for staff to work, we also took advantage of the opportunity to celebrate our diversity. Staff were given permission to wear their casual “street clothes.” It was nice to see each other in a different way and everyone felt like they were more a part of the event. After all of the residents and guests had been fed, the Food Services staff gathered for our own BBQ lunch.
