Step
into Wellness-Western Home Communities Summer Employee Wellness Challenge
One foot
in front of the other is always a good mantra to have when it comes to moving
around our workplace, but employees at the Western Home are taking it one step
further! Employees that are interested in being apart of the summer wellness
challenge were given pedometers that they could wear to track their steps
throughout their day at home and at work. Implemented by Amanda Lynch wellness
coordinator employees have been enjoying the internal competition that has taken
place. Walking through the halls of both downtown and south campuses Lynch has
been stopped to take a look at the "steps" completed by her fellow co-workers.
Lynch
comments, "it has been a great wellness initiative for engagement for employees.
They are starting to realize how many steps and miles they are putting in
during the day and night. They strive to better their steps from the previous
day"
The goal
for employees is 10,000 steps as that is the key to a optimal health and
well-being. Lynch is finding that some are knocking that number right out of
the park with steps of up to 15-20,000 steps per day!
We look
forward to seeing the results as we move through the summer months and continue
to push for better health for all our residents and employees at the Western
Home.
