This December the Smith Village Team worked together to collect toys for the children of Chicago who would not be able to spend the holidays with their families. The toys were collected and donated to the children, so they could have games and treats for their holiday celebrations. Although we usually do a holiday toy drive, this year the toy drive was organized and carried out by one of our very own cooks; Lanae Davis, who suggested this particular toy drive, and she also drove all the toys to where they needed to be in Chicago this December. This year the dining employees, and several employees of other departments worked together to collect over 25 toys for the children. The employees at the drive were very appreciative of the donation and expressed how much the children will really enjoy their special gifts, as it is hard for them and their families to be away from their families over the holidays. The Smith Village team had a great time collecting toys for the kids, and they are already looking forward to doing it again next year. We were happy to bring such joy and excitement to the kids this holiday season!
