An apple a day display a success at Western Home

Tis the season for apples as the air becomes crisp and fresh with the changing of the season.  Wellness Coordinator Amanda Lynch couldn't wait to sink her teeth into this month's superfood.  Apples are a favorite of Lynch's with the annual trip to apple pick in nearby Wisconsin, it brings a great opportunity to educate on the many varieties of apples there are in the local grocery store.  A display of apples was presented and display this week to employees and residents whom voted on their favorite apple of the bunch. Surprisingly it was the Granny Smith apple that took the cake on this occasion.  Lynch looks forward to the remainder of the month where she will be at other locations on campus.

It was a great time to reminisce with residents as some of them enjoy the same trip to look at fall leaves and pick apples to bring home to make lots of different delicious things with their pickings.  Employees enjoyed the special treat in addition to the pick me up during the day. They received information on why apples are important fruits to consume on a regular basis.  It is so refreshing to see residents and employees a like enjoying this treat together.  We are always striving to have great interaction between residents and employees as much as possible at the Western Home Communities, and what better way to do it than with apples!
