To celebrate citrus as the January Superfood, our dietitian Zanita Curtis facilitated an on-display with our residents featuring a citrus smoothie. This was the perfect drink for the cold and flu season with extra Vitamin C. Also, these amazing foods play a key role in the formation of connective tissue in the body, wound healing, anemia, stress, and decreasing cancer causing agents.
We shared a variety of oranges including a blood orange, Cara Cara (which has cranberry properties), extra large navel orange, and a tangerine. The residents were amazed to see the different types, colors, smell, and taste of the oranges.
We look forward to our next on-display and sharing great recipes and nutrition facts with our residents.
