Wigilia Celebration at Felician Sisters of Michigan

At the Felician Sisters in Livonia Michigan during Christmas Eve we celebrate the clients Polish culture by having the Wigilia.  It is similar to the Feast of Seven Fishes in that all the seven item in the Wigilia consist of no meat and the main Entree is a Fish Entree.  This year we tried a couple of new traditional Polish Desserts, one of which was a Wheatberry Pudding-delicious and nutritious.

Our Menu for the Wigilia was:

Ryba y Polska-Polish Style Fish (a poached tilapia topped with a dill and hard boiled egg breadcrumb mixture)
Creamed and Pickled Herring
Shrimp Cocktail
Kluski z Kapusta (Cabbage and Noodles)
Mushroom infused Sauerkraut
Pierogi-Farmers Cheese and Sauerkraut
Fresh Rolls
Tossed Salad

Desserts:
Kutia-Traditional Wheatberry Pudding
Pierniczki-Traditional Polish Gingerbread Cookies

The Sisters raved for day about how the kitchen went all out to provide them with a delicious and well planned Wigilia. We are looking forward to next year and seeing how we can out do this years event.
