Friday Financial Footnote from Kevin Mclaughlin

As we move through the year it is always a good idea to audit payroll as it relates to Ebudget.  Below is a great process for starting your own audit.
LABOR COST “ACTUAL TO BUDGET”

How do I know what my daily/weekly and monthly budgeted hours are?

All accounts have an e Budget that was put together for this fiscal year. The e Budget includes specific detail of how payroll costs were calculated.

From the e Budget tab, click on 2015, e Budget main, and on the left side you will see line items related to all pieces of your budget.  If you have Morrison payroll, you would click on the Morrison paid hourly employee line.  Once open it will show you a detail by day/week.  Click next and it will take you to the budgeted hours spread for each month of the budget year.  This information is very important as you DEVELOP and POST weekly hourly schedules within your account.  It is important to match the daily/weekly numbers to help insure that you are on target for Monthly payroll expenses.

     Try the following self-audit process

Calculate your weekly hours SCHEDULED and compare your actuals to both your MySTAFF weekly paid hours report as well as your weekly budgeted hours from e Budget.  Any Variance of paid payroll and scheduled hours will have an effect on your payroll costs.  Remember to stay as close to budget as possible to insure that you are hitting budgeted performance.
