The folks at the Sanilac Medical Care Facility in Sandusky, MI have enjoy new specials for the past two weeks. One for the Chinese New Year and the other for Jukebox Days. The residents have told me they enjoyed the Sesame Chicken and fluffy white rice with a crisp, vegetable eggroll on the side.
Once again, Jukebox Days was a success. Staying with the 50's and 60's theme, we focused on Motown which was founded in 1959. The residents enjoyed the pictures that our activities department posted on the walls, listened to the music of The Supremes, Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder and reminisced about times they had spent in Detroit. A celebration of Motown would not be complete without a steaming Coney Dog, French Fries and Cole Slaw. Just like you would get at one of the many Coney Island restaurants that originated in Detroit.
Route 66 Traveling Spaghetti Bar
On Thursday, February 19, the Fountains at Bronson Place hosted it's traveling Route 66 Diner Days outside our Market grab 'n go/convenience location. Guests enjoyed their choice of spaghetti with beef meatballs, diced chicken, marinara sauce, alfredo sauce and a side of garlic toast. Dessert was a house-made apple tiramisu. And the Italian theme was completed with a raspberry Italian soda for the beverage.

For this month Diner Days dinner, we at The Fountains at Franklin had a Motown theme. It was all the more special as one of our residents is the wife of Motown great Levi Stubbs of the Four Tops. She and all of the residents enjoyed listening to his music while having a dinner of Chicken & Waffles or Patty Melts.

On February 18th, our resident's were treated to a "Love Birds" meal in the Activity room. The resident's loved the menu of Beef Burgundy over noodles, carrots, dinner roll, Caesar salad, and double layer chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling. Many resident's asked for seconds on the cake. The Beef Burgundy dish was so popular that many resident's asked for it to be added to the menu cycle.
