Chef Jerry Carpenter goes the extra mile for the patients here at The Evangelical Homes of Michigan-Saline. He hears the needs of the patients and their families as he spoke to a patient’s wife about the fact that it was her husband’s birthday. She expressed her sadness that this would be the first year she would be unable to make her a husband a birthday cake. Chef Jerry was touched by that and not only created a special hand-made dessert for him; which was an apple banana shortcake but made her a dessert as well! He deep fried a chocolate chip cookie dough tortilla with a delicious filling topped with whip cream and caramel…yum! They were over the moon about it and felt special on such a special day!
