On April 24, 2015 as a part of The Diner Days, we held a banana split station during our lunch service in the Wesley Willows Town Center Bistro. The residents were thrilled and ordered them with ALL the toppings including raspberry, chocolate and caramel syrups, mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, bananas, whipped cream galore and of course, a few cherries to top it off. They were filled with joy as so many stated to me that " it's been so many years since I have eaten a banana split!" It was a fun day for us all and as a reminder, sometimes the things we may think are simple and small often touch others in a very big way!

“Made it to the Beach”
Cruisin’ Route 66 all week long here at Brecon Village in Saline. Taking a “road trip” through the United States stopping at some of the country’s most iconic places. Each day was filled with different activities and delicious treats at the “roadside stand” in the commons area and auditorium. Monday began the trip in Chicago with Chicago style popcorn and mini corn dogs, to St. Louis on Tuesday for some donut holes with homemade caramel dipping sauce and chocolate ganache. On Wednesday in Albuquerque residents enjoyed southwest chicken egg rolls with a southwest ranch sauce, and arriving in Los Vegas on Thursday featuring peanut butter and banana sandwiches at the “roadside stand.” On Friday April 24th we “made it to the beach” at the Santa Monica Pier where residents came to enjoy in a combined beach/wine & Cheese extravaganza! Executive Chef Janet Nichols presented star fish tuna sandwiches, seaweed spinach dip, shark tooth cheese with crackers, sand pudding parfaits, and cream sodas made with ice cream. A day at the beach was a wonderful way to end our adventure down Route 66.

We rocked out the 70's and 80's here at The Gilbert Residence with Chicken Pot Pie and Milkshakes. Then we added Happy Hour and some rockin' Disco Tunes. It all added up to a great time!

Sanilac
Disco Days was an overwhelming success here in Sanilac. The residents, as well as the cafeteria customers expressed how much they loved the Disco Days Menu which included chicken alfredo with bread sticks and broccoli. Some of the residents told me they didn't know what it was but they were glad they tried it because it was so good. Everyone was also treated to a collossol bacon cheeseburger that was grilled special by Mary LaBadie. Thanks Mary!!! They were great. Once again, the activities department were instrumental in completing this day by decorating the dining rooms and providing the memory filled music that filled the air.
