Resident Challah Baking Class

Every Thursday at Park Plaza Retirement Community, Chicago, the residents enjoy making their own challah bread or rolls.  We proof the dough for them in the morning and in the afternoon, the residents gather in the front dining room to roll out the dough into the shape of a round challah loaf or challah twist rolls.  They put an egg wash on it, decorate it with either sesame seeds, poppy seeds, cinnamon, garlic or just plain.  Many of them share the fruits of their labor with their family for the Friday Night Shabbos dinner.
