Since D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans is primarily a
facility for males, Mother’s Day is not one of the more celebrated holidays.
With an average census of 180 members, the total female population is only 14. However,
we wished to do something a little special for the Mothers who live here. We
purchased small brightly colored note cards and hand wrote a personal Mothers
Day message to each. The cards were signed “Morrison Senior Living, The Crew
from the Kitchen” We then placed the cards in a bright colored paper basket
with a variety of bite size candies.
Mother’s Day morning each basket was personally delivered by
one of the Dining Services Team. It was amazing to see, the smiles and
excitement that such a small gesture of kindness could bring to the wonderful
ladies of our home.
