Why Social Media?

We are really seeing some great momentum and engagement with our Social Media platforms! In an effort to align ourselves with the social media initiative from Morrison Marketing, we have set up two separate social media names: For the McFall region, we are using @bethebenchmark.  For Young's region, we are using @mslfoodology. Each day a blog post will be shared onto the respective social media account.

You will notice these links on each side of the page at the top of our the regional blog website.  Those links allow you to reach these platforms on Twitter and Instagram.  What we are creating are additional ways that you can pass along information and connect your teams to addition resources and best practices.  Feel free to have your managers and supervisors follow both the Young and McFall region to get the maximum information.

Why social media?
Promote: showing the Senior Living Industry that we have great food, great people and provide great service everyday!  This is specifically designed to depict our value to existing clients, promote our team members and attract new business.

Resources: as you search social media on your own personal accounts, you will be able to see innovation and inspiration from the blog as well as our vendors. Not all of you get to the blog everyday or read the daily email with blog updates. Having you follow us on social media will increase exposure to the ideas we will be posting.

Sharing best practices: There is no better way to share a best practice than by doing so in a visual manner.  Pictures and stories are extremely effective techniques we use to inspire innovation and influence others to be innovative.

Privacy Concerns:  We understand this and have some very simple solutions to address those concerns:

First, many people simply utilize the "private" feature on their personal social media accounts and this is not an issue.  However, some managers have expressed concern about privacy on their own personal pages on social media but do not want to use the private feature. Our solution to this is that they simply do not post work related pictures to their account to share. Instead, the blog manager will post submissions from the blog email address on our social media accounts.

Secondly, some of our Michigan accounts who do not currently have a personal Twitter/Instagram have opted to create one just for their account. For instance, Brenton Woods created @brentondining. We are not requiring anyone to create a second business account because it can be tedious to manage two accounts (personal and business) and we want this to be easy, not more work.

Lastly, since we are asking all of our managers to sign up for Twitter/Instagram accounts and follow @bethebenchmark and @mslfoodology, please stress to the managers that we are not going to "follow" them back.  This also allows them to maintain the privacy of their own account.

So, jump on board with this initiative today and enjoy all the additional ideas and inspirational innovations that we are depicting. If you are in need of instructional sheets on how to sign up for social media OR have specific questions or concerns, please email bethebenchmark@iammorrison.com
